Strawberry Bars

My dad has been cultivating strawberries for a while. He is planting them in a hydroponic system. It means that the strawberries are not growing directly from the soil; but they are planted with tubes in which pure “drinking water” goes trough. So they are very clean and safe to eat in the same moment they are cut, (however I always clean my fruits before eating). But now that he is cultivating more, we always have strawberries at home, so I had to found more uses for them. I personally love strawberries! I think it is my favorite fruit. You can eat them in almost every dessert, salads, savory meals, just as a snack, in a smoothie…I can continue. So here is one for you!

3 cups flour
¾ cup sugar
¾ cup dark brown sugar
1 pinch salt
1 1/3 cup butter (cold)

4 cups strawberry
1/3 cup sugar
1 tbsp cornstarch

Preheat oven at 350F

Mix the flour and both sugars. Add the butter (cutted in pieces), and mix it with a fork until it starts forming little crumbles. Use ¾ of the blend, press into the pan and bake it for 20 minutes. Meanwhile, in saucepan put the strawberries, sugar and cornstarch. At low heat move them until the sugar is disolved. Take the crust out of the oven and pour the strawberry sauce over it. Top with the extra crumble and bake it for 30 minutes. Let it cold down and share it!
